The Irvine Company will construct nearly 1,300 homes at the third-largest outdoor shopping mall in Orange County, straddling Irvine and Tustin. The Newport Beach-based developer won approval to build 1,261 apartments on the 79-acre Irvine side of The Market Place at 2961 El Camino Real, the Orange County Business Journal reported.
