PROGRAM OVERVIEW

At AO, we believe that advancing our practice starts with mentoring the next generation of design professionals. Our 8-week summer internship program provides students with invaluable experience that will inform their future career in the field of architecture, design, and planning.

 

What to Expect

As a program participant, you will be an active member of an award-winning architectural team within one of AO’s diverse studios. You will:

  • Work directly with project managers and teams on real-world design and planning assignments
  • Collaborate with an experienced mentor
  • Meet with the firm’s executive leaders
  • Receive assistance and guidance towards your path to licensure
  • Learn and practice teamwork, communication, time management, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Participate in challenging design competitions
  • Work on big-picture master-planning studies
  • Present your work and share ideas
  • Gain an understanding of design studio culture
Qualifications

Qualified internship applicants will be:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, having completed their 3rd year of undergrad or 1st year of graduate school
  • Available and committed for the full 8-week duration of the internship program
  • Experienced users of Revit, AutoCAD, and/or BIM modeling software
  • Experienced users of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficient users of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task
  • An enthusiastic team player with good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to learn and grow
